Born 29th December 2004

Tilly had 9 babies born by caesarian, of which 3 survived. Tilly started bleeding at 8pm the day before she was due, and when no babies appeared over two hours later we took her to the vet for an injection to speed up contractions. This did not work and so, after a very worried night we took her for a further injection, and then finally a caesarian the next morning. We are eternally grateful to Jaimin, the vet at Barnfield House who was dragged out of bed to give the injections, and then performed such a miraculous operation - we were over the moon Tilly survived, let alone babies!
Unfortunately, Tilly didn't produce any milk after the operation, and found her babies a bit scary ('where did they come from?!') so after we had hand-fed them for a day we were very fortunate, and *extremely* relieved to find a foster mum to care for them! The babies went to live with Joanna of Epiphany Stud in Southend-on-sea until they were five weeks old. One of her ratties unexpectedly had a litter of five a day before Tilly - and took our six under her wing instantly! Unfortunately three didn't make it, but Tracey, Jamie and Bill have now come back to live with us! (With one of their foster litter-mates, Jo!)
Tilly is a previous Fizzlephut baby, from Simone's litter , and is a silvered mink mismarked hoody (see the photos of her when she was a baby to see why we nicknamed her 'Sparkles'!) and William is a mink self, bred by Melanie and Darkstar stud.
