Adopting a Fizzlephut baby
Why are we better than a pet
shop?
- Our rats are not bred commercially
- we occasionally let our pet ratties have babies. They don't
have more than one litter ever, and will have to be big and
healthy with a lovely temperament before we consider them. Then
they will be given all the help we can think of to make sure
both mum and babies are happy and healthy.
- Our ratties are usually
bought from NFRS breeders who also choose their ratties for
health and temperament.
- We do not breed from ratties
who have ever wheezed, and endevour to check the family history
for problems.
- You can keep in touch with
us - so you will know any problems the parents or siblings have
later on. And we are on hand for advice should you have any
problems.
- If you would like photos
of your babies, for a little extra, we can give you print outs
or a disk full of digital photos!
Things
to consider
- Unless you have a baby
of similar age at home already as a friend, we'd prefer you
had a pair so they don't get lonely, or bullied by older ratties.
- Please read my 'rough
guide to keeping rats' or look at the links page for more
sources of information.
Babies can either be collected
from us (near Pinner, NW London), in which case you are welcome
to visit them beforehand (not before four weeks old) or we might
be able to meet you at some NFRS shows.
We may also be able to deliver
ratties to you if you live near, or en route to Telford or Bath,
as we have relatives we visit there.
PLEASE remember
that we are not a business! These ratties are our pets - please
treat us, and them accordingly! We will always do what we think
is best for them - if that means keeping them with mum a little
longer if needed, or reserving the right to refuse people we don't
think will keep them properly - we'll do it!
